When my neice was young she proclaimed to her mom that there were no princesses that were like her.  At the time, she was being fitted for a hearing aid and also wore glasses, which was unfortunately one of many medical challenges to come.  Thus, began my journey to create a relatable princess for her.  I wrote and illustrated the story of Princess Missy, who adventures to find the local monster of Pajamaland in order to prove herself.  Along the way she meets a variety of creatures, friends, and inevitably the monster, who is not what the princess expects.  Through her journey, Missy realizes the beauty of our differences, as well as everyone's need for friendship.
